Many practices in South Tyneside have recently been inspected by the Care Quality Commission. Imeary Street Surgery is very pleased to inform our patients that we achieved a ‘GOOD’ overall rating in 4 out of the 5 areas inspected and ‘OUTSTANDING’ in being ‘CARING’. We were rated as ‘GOOD’ in 5 out of the 6 population groups and as ‘OUTSTANDING’ in the quality of our care of older people.
We were visited on 17th June 2015 by the inspection team who spent the day with us interviewing GPs, practice nurse, health care assistant/prescribing clerk, practice manager, assistant practice manager and receptionists about the way we work and they reviewed our evidence. The five key questions they asked were:
- Are we safe?
- Are we effective?
- Are we caring?
- Are we responsive?
- Are we well-led?
They also inspect the quality of care for the following six population groups:
- Older people
- People with long-term conditions
- Families, children and young people
- Working age people including recently retired and students
- People whose circumstances may make them vulnerable
- People experiencing poor mental health including people with dementia
